Applying To STM

  1. All prospective students are required to send their applications through their church. The application must be received by STM before the 1st of October for Malaysian applicants. Self-financing or independent students may apply directly to the seminary.
  2. Application forms may be obtained from the Academic Office or the Seminary website (stm.edu.my). Basic information concerning your age, church, occupation, work experience, academic qualifications, and proposed programme of study should be included.
  3. The applicant must send in all the application documents to:

  1. An endorsement letter from one’s respective church denomination authority is required if he or she is sponsored by the denomination. In such a case, the person must fulfil the requirements of his or her sending denomination.
  2. Interviews with prospective students are normally held from the beginning of June until the first week of November or earlier to enable the faculty members to meet the candidates and to ensure that entrance requirements have been fully met.
  3. Once an offer for admission is made to the applicant, he or she must officially reply to the Academic Office with his or her acceptance or otherwise. The person must agree to abide by the rules and regulations of the seminary.
  4. An orientation programme for all new students is held in the week before the first semester of the academic year.

Upgrading to a Higher Programme (Only In-Campus Programme)

To qualify for upgrading, candidates must maintain a satisfactory level of performance in their academic programme and should possess a GPA of 3.0 and above. If the requirements are met, the following upgrading will be allowed:

  1. DipTh graduates may be allowed to enrol for another 64 credit hours of the BD programme to graduate with the degree. This is approximately two years of in-campus full-time study.
  2. GradDipCS graduates may be allowed to enrol for another 32 credit hours of the MCS programme to graduate with the degree. This is approximately one year of in-campus full-time study.
  3. GradDipCS graduates may be allowed to enrol for another 64 credit hours of the MDiv programme to graduate with the degree. This is approximately two years of in-campus full-time study.
  4. MCS graduates may be allowed to enrol for another 32 credit hours of the MDiv programme to graduate with the degree. This is approximately one year of in-campus full-time study.
  5. For other categories of graduates not mentioned above, please contact the Dean of Studies.

Duration Expected and Maximum Time Extension for Completing a Programme

The maximum time for completing a study programme is extended only to studentswith special needs or students with special circumstances. The student concerned should send in the application to the Dean of Studies.The Faculty will determine the length of time to be extended on a case-by-case basis. All full-time students are expected to complete their respective academic programme as prescribed in the table below. (FT: Full-time; PT: Part-time)
